Foundations Course & Certification
Getting Started!
The first thing you will have to do is complete the online course, which may take 3 to 8 hours, depending on how quickly you move through the material. This course must be completed at least 24 hours before your first zoom session, otherwise it will result in a cancellation of your meeting, which will incur a cancellation fee. Therefore please plan your time accordingly to complete the material, and if you expect a delay, let us know as soon as possible to make the necessary accommodations.
You will also need access to a printer. If you do not have a printer, you must save the files in an accessible location for your future reference and be sure to bring a note pad and pen to your zoom session. However it is highly recommended that you print the material, because if you are teaching, you will need to print this material nonetheless.
Be sure to reference the manual for each set of questions, as instructed. If you have any questions, please ask!
After submitting, you will have a chance to update your answers based on the feedback you receive.

Making Corrections:
After receiving your feedback, you will have an opportunity to make corrections.
You will receive 2 emails - The first will be to confirm that your form has been submitted and include a button that says "Edit Response"; the second email will include your grade and the feedback. In order to update your answers you will need to open the FIRST email and click "Edit Response", and you can update your responses based on the feedback provided in the SECOND email.
There is no penalty to getting questions wrong, but you will need to retry until they are correct. If you are unable to complete the responses correctly after 3 attempts, additional training fees may be incurred, at a rate of $120/hour until answers are correct. All answers are in the manual.

RR Membership Procedure for Instructors
All skaters who participate in the Roll Right program with an instructor, whether for private lessons or group lessons, must register as a Roll Right member. Registration ensures consistent program delivery because:
It prompts skaters to review the program policies before starting lessons, such as wearing protective gear, thus taking the onus from instructors of having to review program policies with all new skaters.
It prompts skaters to complete a Par-Q quiz to ensure they are fit to participate in new physical activity, thereby limiting cases of injury and possible lawsuits against instructors.
It prompts skaters to sign liability waivers, where they agree not to hold instructors accountable for injuries, again limiting cases of injury and possible lawsuits against instructors. A copy is given to the instructor.
It prompts students to rate their skating ability, so instructors have an idea of the level of skater before their first class, so instructors can better prepare for the lesson.
Skaters receive an automatic confirmation of their payment, as well as their registration responses. They also get another email once their file has been updated and their membership number assigned.
It provides a membership number, which gives skaters exclusive access to resources as they become available, such as the skills videos.
The membership number is also used to register their progress and, in the future, register for certification courses.
If you are a Canadian instructor using the Roll Right Skating Academy insurance, the insurance only covers instruction of Roll Right members.
Together, these factors enhance the skaters’ overall learning experience and experience with you as an instructor.
However, we recognize the challenge in checking that skaters are registered, so here are some tips to make registration easier.
1. Link the registration site directly to your payment portal and give clear instructions that new registrants must complete their Roll Right membership registration prior to attending their first class: https://www.rollright.org/learn/membership
2. Schedule time to complete the registration with the participant directly, as one would in a registration office.
3. The Roll Right office will send you a notification during our business hours when someone new registers, so you can keep track of it this way. However, if you need confirmation before that, you can ask skaters to show their response receipt from the registration form itself, which is emailed to them directly immediately upon submitting the registration form.
Exceptions:
The registration benefits are most enjoyed by participants who intend on attending multiple classes. So for the case of one-off lessons, seminars, workshops, sample lessons, etc. In the first lesson, you are not required to have the skater complete the registration payment; however, they must complete their skater registration and use the codes “TRIAL” or “WORKSHOP” for payment confirmation. These registrants will not receive a membership number until their payment is made, and the Roll Right office will follow up with the instructor to find out if the skater intends to continue with additional lessons.
If you are a Canadian instructor using the Roll Right Skating Academy insurance, it only covers skaters who pay their registration and complete their profile. So skaters will need to register for instructors to be insured to teach them.
Promoting your Program
Instructors are encouraged to invite skaters to view this website for program details or link our website to your class descriptions. This saves you time and improves clarity for prospective students.

Note Regarding Waivers
Skaters acknowledge a waiver when they complete their Roll Right membership registration. However, your insurance company may have different requirements. Please review your insurance requirements and follow those guidelines to ensure you are covered. Roll Right Skating Academy Ltd. is not responsible for adhering to other insurance requirements. If your insurance company requires a specific waiver, please contact us to add your waiver to the form.
The best way to prevent insurance and injury-related problems is to teach in a safe and controlled environment and require your skaters to wear protective gear.
